Please help amplify the Ghisallo Cycling Initiative and youth cycling in Austin by giving during the Amplify Austin event this Thursday! Amplify Austin is a 24-hour giving day from 6pm Thursday, March 20, to 6pm Friday, March 21, 2014.

But, you don’t have to wait until Thursday, you can pre-schedule your donation now through our profile here: https://amplifyatx.ilivehereigivehere.org/ghisallo/overview

During 2013 over 1000 youth participants attended our Bike Clubs and Earn-A-Bike classes and another 150 via high volume bike rodeos and clinics.

In 2014 we are expanding our after-school Bike Club programs to Zavala Elementary and Kealing Middle Schools. Our goal is to have programs at an additional two to four schools by the end of the year. We are also launching a brand new Apprentice Mechanic program for High School students and our Earn-A-Bike program at Boy and Girls Club East Club continues to grow.

Every dollar counts and during the Amplify Austin event we have secured $575 of dollar-for-dollar matching to further amplify your giving.

We need additional funds to support our current youth programs and expand to new schools and community partners in addition to continued development of our Cycle Academy materials. We are also in need of used but usable kids bikes for our free youth Earn-A-Bike and Maintenance program we offer through Boys and Girls Club East Club.

We support our current programs through a mix of fees, grants and financial support by donors like you. Large and small, all donations are greatly appreciated and make the work we do possible:

  • $1 funds 2 to 3 Cycle Academy skill achievement badges for students
  • $5 funds a tube and a patch kit for use during our classes
  • $10 funds all Level 1 Cycle Academy skills badges for a student
  • $25 funds a helmet
  • $50 funds a basic instructor travel tool set
  • $100 funds background checks and Red Cross First Aid training for an instructor
  • $250 funds a community Bike Rodeo or skills clinic
  • $500 funds a month of bi-weekly Earn-A-Bike classes at Boys and Girls Club East Austin Club
  • $1000 funds a years worth of consumables (cables, housing, grease, lube, etc) for Earn-A-Bike
