Two Wheels of Awesome – Episode 35

This summer we were pleased to be able to provide Bike Club programming for Camp Glimmer. This was also our first partnership with A Glimmer of Hope Austin.

We were able to use the extensive trail system for beginner and more advanced riding skills. The kids ranged in age from 8-12 years old, and came from all over Austin. The campers, and the camp counselors, were excited to use the bikes and trails to explore and catch sight of the deer, rabbits and many birds that live on the property.

One particular day we had a group of refugee youths from Interfaith Action of Central Texas(iACT).  iACT’s youth program, iLearn, provides English and math instruction, cultural orientation, and outdoor recreation to over 50 refugee youths every summer. This bike club was the first time many of these kids had a chance to learn to ride a bike, or to ride a bike since coming to the US. On this day we had kids from Burma, Nepal, Cuba and Somalia.

All geared up and ready to roll.
