The Ghisallo Cycling Initiative had the pleasure of working with the Turner Roberts Recreation Center in Northeast Austin to teach youth bicycling skills. Students ranging from 1st to 5th grade participated and learned basic skills like stopping, hand signals, scanning, obstacle avoidance, and more. All the students who participated were excited to learn skills that they could use on a bike of their own.

Many students were able to use our pedal-less strider bikes to work on their balance and steering before giving pedal bikes a try. More than 30 bikes that accommodated each student’s height and skill level were used to facilitate the event. It was such a joy to help these youth, especially those who experienced their first bike ride!
